Don’t be embarrassed or afraid to laugh out loud at work. We are familiar with laughter at work and clapping when a sales team brings in the numbers, right? We know of several sales teams who do Laughter At Work together to motivate themselves each day! That's great, we get it.  Laughter At Work is much more than energising a sales and marketing team—it goes beyond, to each and every person in the company.

Scientific research  shows the positive impact laughter can have in the workplace. For one, it can reduce stress. “When you start to laugh, it doesn’t just lighten your load mentally, it actually induces physical changes in your body,” the Mayo Clinic explains. It enhances your intake of “oxygen-rich air,” increasing your brain’s release of endorphins. Laughter has also been shown to boost productivity.

Laughter At Work Benefits

1. Reduces Stress

Laughter Yoga is the quickest, most effective, most economical way to help employees reduce stress. This helps prevent worker burnout and absenteeism from stress-related illness.

2. Creates Emotional Well-Being

Laughter Yoga helps employees balance and manage their emotional lives. It increases positive emotions and decreases negative emotions. This smoothes workplace relations and helps people develop a work life balance.

3. Promotes Peak Performance

Laughter Yoga increases the net supply of oxygen to the body and brain, thus, promoting peak performance. The brain requires 25% more oxygen than the rest of the body. The laughing and deep yoga breathing of Laughter Yoga enables the brain to attain this much needed oxygen supply so that it can function at its highest level. Your work output  depends upon your mood states. If your mood is good, you do everything well. Your mood states are paramount to your peak performance. Laughter Yoga changes your mood within minutes by releasing chemicals from your brain cells like endorphins.

4. Enhances Creativity

The playfulness of Laughter Yoga frees right-brained thinking, the basis of all creativity. Out of this creativity, new ideas and concepts can grow, giving your business the edge it needs to move forward.

5. Builds Team Spirit

Laughter Yoga connects people and this builds team spirit. Communication skills are enhanced and employees engage with one another in a helpful, mutually-supportive environment.

 Laughter At Work
Just as Effective on Zoom

It might surprise you to learn that laughter at work is just as effective on zoom as it is in the office. I started Laughter Yoga professionally on Zoom during the Covid-19 Pandemic. I haven't looked back.

I've laughed with people from all around the world. Laughter benefits are just as accessible online as if we were laughing in-person. This is great for hybrid teams or companies that are trans-continental. Colleagues can laugh together and this build up connection.

Researches from the University of Galway and the Western Development Commission have found that 92 % of respondents say they prefer remote or hybrid working. 44 % of respondents said they would change job or even take a pay-cut if they couldn't work remotely.

The findings are from the first of three data collection waves of the 2023 annual National Remote Working Survey, led by Professor Alma McCarthy at University of Galway and Deirdre Frost, Policy Analyst at the Western Development Commission.

The survey gathered responses from almost 6,000 respondents in late September and early October on their experience of remote working.
